(Treasurer)

When I retired, a little over 5 years ago, I knew I wanted to do some voluntary work. I also knew that, after 30-odd years as an accountant in financial services, I did not want to be a charity’s money person. And up until now that’s exactly what’s happened. I’ve volunteered for Edinburgh Art Festival, The Listening Service (at Edinburgh Sheriff Court), a foodbank and the Covid and flu vaccination programmes. All very rewarding and the kind of change I was looking for.

I've lived in Portobello for about five years and having tried to move in for about ten years before that absolutely love being here.  Professionally I've a background in charities and community development.

Having spent most of my life in small villages I've always really understood the value of having central places where people can gather and hold events.  It's fantastic to be able to have that on a fairly large scale on our doorstep.

I’ve lived in Portobello for 23 years and I love it here.
